Termination Box
PBE’s Termination Box (TB) is a passive
device used to properly terminate the
ends of the Leaky Feeder Cable into a 75
ohm load
If the system is to work correctly, every Leaky Feeder Cable ‘end’ must be terminated with a
Termination Box.
While the system may sll operate without a Termination Box, the last amplifier in the cable run will
not be able to function as it was designed. The Termination Box ensures the last amplifier is provided
with a terminated load of 75 ohm. The Termination Box will also block the DC voltage, preventing a
short circuit and effectively seal the end of the cable against the harsh mine environment.
If the system is to meet the specifications as published, Termination Boxes must be fitted to the ends
of all cable runs. An Antenna Coupler (see T130512) can also be used to terminate a cable end and
provide extended coverage via an omnidirectional antenna.
Installation
The Termination Box is designed for easy assembly underground without the need for specialized
tools or skills. Refer to the Leaky Feeder Manual (MAN-41-00001-01) for cable preparation methods.
See System Design Guide drawing (01-20000-05 for VHF or 01-30001-05 for UHF) for device spacing.
